Benjamin W. Latham 1902
#184-207-9 Plank on frame construction All wooden parts, including
the false keel and the bulkheads are laser cut. The kit contains basswood planking
for the hull and deck, and plenty of strips for timberheads, monkey boards, riding
bits and deck pads. Basswood is also supplied for deck cabins, hatches, wheel
and chain boxes. Wooden blocks and deadeyes number more than 100. The cast metal
fittings set is one of the most comprehensive ever compiled. It includes windlass
parts, anchors, bilge pumps, props, exhaust pipes, fife rails and smoke heads.
One of the most remarkable features of this model is an authentic plank-on-frame
seine boat. You'll build it upside down on a set of formers, just like the real
thing. Sail cloth, display pedestals and brass rods for mounting the seine boat
complete the kit. Six sheets of plans and a 48 page instruction book by Ben Lankford,
whose credits include work in the Smithsonian Institution. make assembly a pleasure.
