Wooden Ship Kits

La CouronneKit

Completed in 1636, La Couronne is reputed to have been France’s most beautiful ship of the millenium. The infamous Cardinal Richelieu (of Alexander Dumas's "Three Muskateers" fame) personally supervised her decoration. Her ornamentation was created by the most famous craftsmen and artists of her day.

#101-328-6 plank-on-frame construction. One look at this kit and you might think you're back in the splendor of 17th century France. Metal lost wax castings. Sculptured figurehead. Stern lanterns and other sculptured ornaments are beautifully gilded. Blocks, deadeyes, belaying pins, gratings and cannon carriages are crafted in walnut. Her 64 cannon and many other fittings are turned in solid brass. Plank-on-frame construction uses pre-cut poplar for frames and keel. Masts, deck and display cradle and other wooden parts are fashioned from tanganyika, beech, mahogany and maple. Twelve sheets of plans and step-by-step instructions make for trouble free construction. Instructions are written in English, French, Italian and German.
