Rattle SnakeKit

In 1780, the American privateer Rattle Snake was launched from Plymouth Massachusetts. Despite her moderate size of 89 feet she was fast and sea worthy. Her crew consisted of 85 men and she carried 20 six pounders.
She was so successful at preying on English merchant traffic that the British government demanded she should be captued or sunk at any cost. In 1783 the Rattle Snake was over come by the 44 gun ship HMS Assurance and inducted into the Royal Navy.
