The Soliel Royale was launched from the port of Brest, France in 1669 during the reign of Louis XIV “the Sun King”. No expense was spared in the creation of the most impressive ship of this epoch. She was simply magnificent, with many of the leading craftsmen of Europe flocking to France to work on her. With three decks of cannon, she just bristled with firepower.  It is rumored that a potted garden was even placed on the poop deck when his Majesty chose to board.
